This Friday,16 th of March, the first phase of the extension of the Salou Sports Football Complex, which consists of a multipurpose rugby field and Football pitch, and two 11 a side football pitches, has been completed; all of artificial grass. Also, this season a general renovation took place at the bar of the Complex, the bar has been extended and all the furniture has been changed. An extension that opens now and will complete in 2019 with the inauguration of a Mini stadium, a training 7 a side football pitch, one beach football pitch and a training area for goalkeepers.
It was the same Friday afternoon when the rugby field was opened with the first activity. Specifically, the Tarragona Rugby coach Jason Randell, taught a master class to the Irish women's team Port Dara U18. The multipurpose field will allow the practice of both rugby and football in the best possible conditions. It will be the only one in the area with artificial grass, which provides a more uniform absorption of impacts and has an almost imperceptible wear.
Developments continue to the following year. The Complex Esportiu Futbol Salou will begin 2019 with what will be the star of the facilities: a Mini Stadium equipped with stands and a capacity to hold 1.000 people. The field will be made of natural grass and will hold matches for professional teams and national teams, as well as major events. It will have all the comforts for players, with changing rooms and multipurpose rooms that will bring more privacy to the teams. It will also have a special stand from which to broadcast the matches.
In addition, a 7 a side football training pitch of artificial grass will be inaugurated, as well as an area for goalkeepers with natural grass where a double area of football 11 a side will be simulated, and a sand pitch with international measurements for beach football training and football matches. These fields are also widely used for the rehabilitation of players who have suffered an injury.
