This Sunday, May 1, the 7-a-side football world cup for people with brain injuries has kicked off at Futbol Salou Sports Center. This World Cup will be played in men's and women's categories and will take part more than 500 people, including players, staff, and volunteers.
In the men's category there will be 15 national teams and more than 400 participants. The 40 matches will be played in full at Futbol Salou facilities from May 1st to May 15th.
In the women's category, this competition will have 5 national teams, 160 participants and 12 matches will be played until May 17.
In the men's category, the participating teams will be: Venezuela, the Netherlands, England, Canada, Thailand, the Republic of Ireland, Germany, Brazil, the United States of America, Iran, Australia, Ukraine, Spain, Northern Ireland and Argentina. In the women's category, the teams that will play the championship will be: United States of America, Spain, the Netherlands, Japan, and Australia.
All the teams will be housed in Cambrils Park Sport Village, which has the ideal services and facilities to accommodate athletes of any discipline.
The inaugural match of the men's championship was held at Futbol Salou Sports Center this Sunday, May 1, at the Mini Stadium. The match was played by the national teams of Spain and Ukraine, which is in the second place in the international rankings.
The Ukrainian team won the match with a score of 0 to 5 against Spain. Bedenok, Debmik, Donenko and Romanchuk were the scorers of the match.
